I am very pleased to announce that an experienced counselor, educator and expert in Kansas landlord-tenant rules and regulations will be joining the HCCI team as its new Rental Housing Supervisor. Teresa Baker will return to HCCI to assume this leadership post in mid-February.
For five years, Teresa distinguished herself as a counselor in HCCI’s tenant-landlord department, including being the program’s Supervisor. In 2012, Teresa left HCCI to begin her own company, dedicated to providing comprehensive rental housing services. In addition, for the past year Teresa has been the Tenant Relations Manager for Liberty Management Group in Topeka.
Teresa will lead HCCI’s three-person tenant-landlord team, which includes Lisa Pennington-Jewsome and Anahi Hernandez. In 2014, HCCI’s rental housing program provided counseling services to more than 1,500 people and presented 30 education programs. With HCCI’s statewide tenant-landlord counseling and education program in place, along with our partnerships to serve the rental housing information needs for the cities of Lawrence and Topeka, those numbers will likely grow substantially in 2015.
Teresa replaces Elias Garcia as HCCI’s Rental Housing Supervisor. Elias resigned his position in January to accept a management opportunity with the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
